WP5: Flexible Lifelong Learning for Adults

In peripheral regions of Europe, many adults, especially those facing significant disadvantages, lack the skills and competencies necessary for active participation in the labour market and society. WP5 aims to address this challenge by piloting and scaling innovative flexible higher education pathways.

Objectives

  • Involve target groups and stakeholders in identifying their needs to create inclusive and sustainable learning environments. This approach supports personal development, encourages civic engagement, and equips adults for the ever-evolving job market on the periphery.
  • Develop and share innovative teaching practices and learning technologies through various modes to enhance quality and access for adult learners.
  • Implement a co-development process and pedagogy that includes input from lectures, administrative staff, and representatives from the target groups and stakeholders.
  • Pilot and upscale the developed courses and micro-credentials within the alliance and beyond, ensuring that a maximum number of learners benefit from these initiatives.

Tasks

  1. Alliance-wide identification, mapping of needs for skills and competences, and prioritising.
  2. Develop a digital pedagogical toolbox and a Lifelong Learning framework.
  3. Co-creating and piloting flexible courses and micro-credentials.
  4. Institutionalising and scaling flexible education pathways within and beyond the EMERGE alliance.

WP5 is lead by the University of Inland Norway (INN).
