Collaboration Short Description:

The LEAPS project is a metaphor for making small stepS in order to make a LEAP as a community of active citizens. It connects 9 educational and civil society organisations from Slovakia, France, Poland and Serbia. The LEAPS is a participatory and inclusive project for interdisciplinary cooperation between educators, community leaders, social workers, cultural managers and citizens, as it bridges the gap between formal education and civil society. It develops, adopts and applies an innovative method of work that combines non-formal education, scientific research, artistic and communal practices by democratisation of their use. It focuses mainly but not only on digital inclusion and citizen science and targets vulnerable citizens to empower them for a more active life as well as a higher awareness of EU values and their rights. The consortium of educational institutions and civil society organisations in the field of culture, education and community work aims at implementing an innovative methodology, which incorporates good practice of the partners in connecting universities and spaces of formal education to NGOs and nonformal initiatives, by piloting Training Program Methodology in the form of Training Lab and Community Engagement Program. The educational content is designed to cover the topics of gender equality, disinformation and media literacy, digital inclusion, community organising and leadership, skills development, and creativity. Annual Citizen Academy will be organised to exchange knowledge and advance academic research in a sustainable manner. As the LEAPS partnerships enhance community development, they also have potential to become good practice examples for other countries, municipalities or regions in their policy making. Proposed models of cooperation and engagement help combat digital and social inequalities thus rebuilding communities, strengthening social cohesion, raising awareness of relevant issues, and encouraging citizens to take action.
