Within the framework of the European Education Area, the Erasmus+ programme aims to sup-port, through lifelong learning, the educational, personal and civic development of learners, while strengthening inclusion, equity, quality and innovation.
The COME AS U R project is situated within this perspective, proposing a collective and inno-vative approach to enhance academic success and students’ sense of belonging, particularly in the first year of higher education.
With the ever-growing number of students, first-year failure constitutes a priority issue, reveal-ing broader limitations of higher education systems. The transition from secondary school to university remains marked by methodological and social discontinuities, as well as unequal preparation for academic expectations.
Despite the diversity of national contexts, certain factors of under-representation remain com-mon (low socio-economic background, gender, migrant status and disability), which are tar-geted by inclusion policies and lifelong learning strategies.
Beyond social and individual characteristics, we believe that the role of a learning community is pivotal to academic success.
We suggest two directions:
-Working on a sense of belonging that acts as a motivational lever fostering engagement,persistence and academic performance (Elliott, Gamino & Jenkins, 2016; Uzezi &Deya, 2017)
-Fostering the emergence of a work collective (Caroly & Barcellini, 2014), understoodas a resource for action, enabling the reorganisation of tasks, the development of sharedrules and the support of experiential learning.
To address these two directions, we have imagined a structured “space-time” that fosters the construction of a robust student collective as a resource for academic success. This European project ultimately examines the relevance and conditions of “working together” in higher education, making the collective not only an object of learning but also a structuring and operational principle of the educational design itself. We wish to apply by spring 2027 for an Erasmus+ Key Action 2 funding of € 400k. COME AS U R invites potential partners to imagine new ways for students to blossom together.
