Student Association Networks (SAN)

Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) invites student clubs, societies, and student-led groups to join the Student Associations Network (SAN) of the EMERGE European University Alliance.

The SAN is a collaborative European network designed to connect student clubs, societies, and associations across all EMERGE partner universities, fostering cooperation, inclusion, and a shared sense of community among students.

Through the SAN, student initiatives gain a European dimension, enabling students to exchange ideas, co-create activities, and actively contribute to building an open, inclusive, and sustainable academic community.

Objective of the Student Associations Network (SAN)

The SAN aims to:

  • connect student clubs, societies, and associations across EMERGE institutions,
  • strengthen student engagement and inter-university collaboration,
  • encourage joint projects, initiatives, and events,
  • enhance the overall student experience within the EMERGE Alliance,
  • contribute to the development of a vibrant, participatory, and internationally connected European campus community.
About Registering to EMERGE Student Association Networks (SAN)

Before joining the EMERGE Network,  student associations interested may read the correspondent EMERGE policy.

Student participation within EMERGE

The SAN is open to informal or semi-formal student clubs, societies, and student-led groups, including:

  • cultural associations,
  • sports clubs,
  • film and artistic societies,
  • volunteer groups,
  • academic and scientific communities,
  • environmental and social initiatives,
  • hobby-based and creative student groups.

The SAN does not include official student representative bodies, student unions, or formally elected governance structures.

Participating associations and groups will have the opportunity to:

  • connect with similar student organizations across EMERGE universities,
  • participate in joint European activities and events,
  • develop collaborations and exchange best practices,
  • use EMERGE Hubs and the EMERGE virtual platform for networking and visibility,
  • contribute to initiatives related to sustainability, inclusion, innovation, resilience, and student life.

The SAN operates in synergy with other EMERGE student structures and initiatives, including the Student Advisory Board (SAB) and the Student Ambassador Force (SAF), strengthening student participation across the alliance.

  • Become part of an international student network,
  • Promote your activities and initiatives at the European level,
  • Build new collaborations with students from partner universities,
  • Gain experience through international projects and exchanges,
  • Contribute actively to shaping the EMERGE community.

Expression of Interest Form

Student clubs, societies, and student-led groups of Democritus University of Thrace interested in joining the SAN are invited to complete the expression of interest form.
